Sherwin-Williams Launches Tank Lining With Industry's Fastest Return to Service

Single-coat Fast Clad 105ER improves coating schedules with eight-hour turnaround time

CLEVELAND (April 23, 2013) – Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings announces the launch of Fast Clad 105ER, a 100 percent solids tank lining for crude oil and ethanol storage that can be holiday tested in approximately four hours and returned to immersion service in eight hours.

Fast Clad 105ER is the next generation of rapid cure epoxy coatings that can achieve required dry film thickness (DFT) in one pass, and promote extended service life by preventing premature coating failure at vulnerable edges, angles and weld seams.

"We've built on our leading-edge technology in FastClad ER, adding a next generation tank lining to our portfolio of products," said Ron Knecht, market director for Oil & Gas – North America, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings. "We've raised the bar on turnaround time compared to other high solids epoxy linings for the petrochemical market. When tanks can be returned to service the same day or overnight, revenue loss from downtime is kept to a minimum."

Fast Clad 105ER was designed for use in both onshore and offshore applications and, offering superior resistance to ethanol, is suitable for universal storage service. It can be applied at temperatures as low as 35° F (2° C), and in rehabilitation projects, in a single coat up to 50 mils DFT.
